Web Interface security hardening

The embedded Web Server Interface is another feature that aims to optimize the management of a device from the access control line. Due to its importance and its capability of changing sensible settings without the need to have physical access to the device, Control iD provides the security hardening features presented below.

Mandatory credentials change

After logging in for the first time using the default credentials ("admin" for both user and password), the administrator is redirected to a mandatory credentials redefiniton page.

Optional credentials change

After the mandatory password redefinition, the administrator can change the credentials again at any moment, just by accessing the Web Interface settings.

Complete deactivation

Despite the Web Interface being a practical and accessible resource, it is known that some administrators may preffer that the device would only be managed by its display or by the API. Because of that, the Web Interface can also be completely deactivated, so it can't be accessed from a browser anymore. More info can also be found at Web Interface settings.

Once deactivated, the Web Interface can be once again activated at any moment.
